This is a buddies engine so I can't just look at it. Does someone have a pic of the pulse port location on this engine. Is it on the port side of the engine like smaller OMCs I have had in the past? I assume there is a block off plate 😔 installed Or is the pulse used as part of the current VRO...
Ok I found the big official OMC one from a parts site. OMC part number.
5007422
It looks like Chinese junk ones are around $175 give or take.
I believe it's just a bad diaphragm or o ring in the original. Many of the reviews of the cheap pumps say they leak in no time. It might make more sense...
I have a buddy who disabled the VRO on his 90 HP Johnson years ago. The fuel pump is massively leaking gas. I told him you can get just a gas version fuel pump does anyone have a thread that points to this replacement or just a part number or link to said pump?
This is the welsh plug on the...
My transom is all aluminum and thick aluminum plate and all welded to the engine pod and then welded bolted to the toons/floor structure. If mine was about to be dragging the ground I would have some serious problems!
I set my oil or things that thicken up in the cold beside the wood stove for the night. They flow fine.
But no cold doesn't hurt them. If you trailer your boat in the cold it sits inside your lower unit at cold temperatures. It's made to flow cold it's just thicker. it can go way down to...
Yellow as in honey or amber colored? That's what oil looks like when it's clean and new. Now if it was milky yellow and opaque it sounds like some water is getting in.
I can't remember what's in my v6. Chance there Sierra but just as good chance there OMC/Bombardier? So I guess I can't really comment here cause I can't remember. :ROFLMAO: Either way they were fine.
I have not found Sierras not to melt...but I haven't bought one in the last few recent years.
There several good solutions here. I would do what the guys said. I'd look in a box of stuff at lowes or TSC. See what kind of cap screw you can find. I'm sure there is something very close in size that would work.
I am not sure if a Helicoil would work as you don't have that much meat to put...
I guess this could depend on ones use of said engine one is rebuilding the carb on. Could just be a huge waste of time inconvenience or Mad wife...the latter would be worth paying $6 ta avoid!
But most of these kits...NOT Sierra but the no name ones off Amazon that I have had, the issue is poor...
I have used Sierra without issue. They are way, WAY better than the no name china kits off Amazon or eBay. But if $6 is not a huge percentage increase I might be tempted to buy that.
Every car truck and tractor from about that era and before had a glass bowl sediment filter. Unless you drop them or store it full of water there not breaking on their own.
Depending on use on the engine I wouldn't be to worried at this point that's not much water and the oil has absorbed any and still doing oil things. Lower unit oil is designed to absorb some amount of water and still protect parts. If it were me I would just change it more often till it gets...
I am starting a new thread. I originally posted this to my initial thread about this lower when I first opened it up. It didn't seem like it got any attention, probably because it looked like an old thread.
Here it is....
Ok I'm here again. I out the engine back together. It ran fine for like...
Yea totally resealed it all. Even put a new brass bushing for shift shaft. The moisture is not the issue. Literally like maybe two drops small drops looked like they were in the oil. Heck could of even been from the dirty cut open oil bottle I used as a drain pan.
I am sure this is the or part of the problem. Looking at pictures the correct part is taller than the other one...which will change the length of the shift shaft which would cause an issue with how much the pressure is placed on the clutch dog.
Looking up the part number that was in it it said...
Ok, not sure if this makes a difference. I didn't catch it at first because I didn't look at the cradle. But I noticed that the cradle part # in the lower unit was 325014 when I look at the parts diagram online it lists #302500. They look the same to me. Unless it's a superceded number I don't...
Ok I'm here again. I out the engine back together. It ran fine for like 4 outings I think then it started jumping in and out of gear. I only went on the first one for a mile or two ride and it shifted and acted fine. It's my brother in laws boat. I told him to just shift at once don't slip it in...
Saw a YouTube video where BRP is coming back with the Ghost engine. It will be a partially submerged Rotax engine under BRP name called the Ghost engine. Available in 115&150 at first. Only available on BRP boats. Weird looking engine that hangs off the back partially submerged, with a lower...
