Got a 1970 55hp Chrysler with magneto ignition. It's model 554HA. Does anyone know where to get a flywheel key for this motor? Did a search here but, couldn't find anything relevant.
I looked at the previous posts and didn't find a similar problem so here goes. My brother's Mastercraft PWC sits out in the lake on a submerged trailer all summer. The battery went dead so we took of seat to try to jump start it. Eventually we just took out battery and charged it overnight and...
I've searched my manuals and I can't find an answer so, here goes. 1970 55 hp Chrysler model 554HA. At the reed adapter plate , there are 2 hoses that exit and go into a T fitting .The T fitting goes to 1 hose which goes into the exhaust housing. The lower of the 2 hoses has a check valve in it...
Just bought a magnatune ignition kit. It supposed to replace the points. They are only for Chryslers with magneto ignition and NO charging system. I haven't installed it yet. I was wondering if anyone else has had any experience with this setup.
I'm trying to make 1 good LU out of 3 questionable ones. 2 of them have impeller housings with 3 mounting screws and 1 has 4 mounting screws. They all seem to fit into the LU. I just want to know if they are interchangeable. They all have the same impeller. The one with 4 screws is what I'd like...
Searched the archives and couldn't find anything so, here goes. I got the lower unit apart and I found the clutch dog worn on the forward gear side. Can I reverse the dog. I've also got another LU with cracked housing but a good dog. Can I use that. Chrysler 1970 554HA.
Got an ancient Chrysler(1970) and the foam around the inside of the hood has totally deteriorated. Any suggestions as to what I should use to replace it with.
I remember reading the lower unit 101 post here recently. It said to replace the drain plug nylon washers when changing lube. Are those washers anything different than you'd get at Home Depot or a hardware store or does one need to go to a marine store only.

I got a 1970 55 HP Chrysler model 554HA which I'm trying to get back to running condition. The engine is a magneto ignition electric start without a charging sytem. The Seloc manual says timing should be 28 deg BTDC. The Glenn, Chilton's and Clymer manuals say it should be 32 deg BTDC. I'm...
