I got a 1970 55 HP Chrysler model 554HA which I'm trying to get back to running condition. The engine is a magneto ignition electric start without a charging sytem. The Seloc manual says timing should be 28 deg BTDC. The Glenn, Chilton's and Clymer manuals say it should be 32 deg BTDC. I'm inclined to believe the Seloc version but, I would like some input on this. I've also got a question on timing procedure but, that is for another topic because it might apply to other outboards too.
