I don't know why the censor's find the Lord's name offensive.... I wasn't even using it in vain. Gimme a break.

The other word they blocked was the shortened name for Richard. Again...gimme a break. Political correctness gone mad!!

Walt

Re: You know I'll be checking this out

The iboats people and I discussed this G o d werd *** thingy, and they are afraid it WILL get used in inapropriate ways.
I guess we will have to wait and see what happens down the road.

As for the offshore races, they are a hoot!!
The Hooter's (probably get ***'d out),pronounced "who- ters" boat put0-in for some pre-race mods on the Caloosahatchee River. Thier back wheels went off the end of the slab, and we had to get a crane to hoist it up.
It wasn't funny at the time, but it sure is now!!!
Dangol power-loaders!

Re: You know I'll be checking this out

Just got back. They are running one at a time seeing who can blast through town with the highest top speed. I have no idea who went how fast because I saw no score board and only heard an anouncer for a moment. I parked my van a couple miles down river and biked up and down the riverfront trail walkways. The high point was the fact only one ramp is open today and it is crowded. They have 2 miles of the river closed to traffic and I had spent most of the day watching the ramp rage. Gotta love the new boaters and all the others. What a hoot.

The Score = Two almost sunk boats due to "forgot the plug" and one jetski that some guy left his kid watching while he parked the truck what must have been a 1/4 mile away with the lots full. It sunk to the seat (no plug) and he proceded to drag it up on ramp and drain it, dewater the motor, and tie things up for 45 minutes.

I WOULDA BEEN LIVID. But from my bicycle in the shade I tried to keep the laughter to a low roar.

Lots of cold beer and a Hillbilly/Blues/Rock band at one of the areas. I did hear an announcer asking the people over on the big riverboat if they preffered hard drinks or beer but their answer was unclear.

Re: You know I'll be checking this out

It was on a Sunday in early May, 1982...at the peak of Spring Chinook season... that my wife-to-be sunk my prized El Camino in the Willamette River. I'd just backed the boat off the trailer and gave our usual thumbs up signaling her to drive the Elky up the ramp and park. Although we'd done this countless times before, that morning (for reasons still unknown) instead of placing the gear selector in drive, she put it in neutral. When she released the park brake and moved her foot from the brake pedal to the gas pedal, gravity took over and she coasted rather quickly backwards...never once thinking to step on the brake again. Nope, instead she just pressed harder on the gas!!! Geez...I can still invision the huge geyser shooting out of the front grill created by the Elky's fan blade hitting the water at max RPM.

I was too shocked to be embarrassed...and thankfully there were a lot of folks at the ramp that day to help me out. We managed to get a rope tied off on the front bumper to keep her from dropping off the end of the ramp...and eventually were able (with the help of two big Ford 4WD's) winch her back out. I didn't even try to start it...heck I already knew the engine was "flooded"!!

We didn't go fishing that day either...

Hey Yapblaze...thanks for bringing up such great memories!

Walt
