Years for Suzuke 9.9 manufacture

Can someone tell me how to date my Suzuki 9.9? The seller said 1990,but I cannot verify this for part purchase. Thanks Rich

The number ;00994/801149. Model is;DT9.9C. The Dealer said today it is a 88. This does not make sense,she cross-referenced it by the color of the decal. Surely there must be a code here. Thanks Rich

Unless your transom bracket have been replaced by an old motor, what colour decals you have?

Thanks for the replies. The decal is bliue with "9.9 and Suzuki" being a metalic color. Could you please tell me how you coded this serial number? What makes it 88 with only one"8" in the serial? Thanks Rich
