year of my engine

hi i have just brought my first boat and i am trying to find the year of the engine . all i can find in the way of a serial and model number is .... it is a johnson 9.9 bhp sea horse .. serial number is B021399 model number is J10BALCNS..can any one help with the year cause id like to get a manual for it thanx paul

J10BALCNS is the model number for 1982 model year.

Model number tells all

CN are the date letters for 1982

fitted with an AC lighting coil
long shaft

The engine is not listed in the BRP parts catalog so presumably not built for the N.American market.
