Yamaha Tach question

Hi, Im new to Iboats, so sorry if I'm not posting this in the right spot.

I have a 2006 115 Four stroke that I am installing on my boat. The old Johnson 112 two stroke died,I have an unknown generic tach in the dash now. My question is, can the this tach be made to work?It has 2P, 3P,4P,5P, and 6P pot settings on the back. It is set to 6P for the old two stroke V4 currently. Maybe I need a wiring harness to go from the tach and plug into the Yamaha main harness in addition?

What color wires should be connected from the Main Yamaha Harness?

your going to buy another 300 dollars worth of parts.
simply bite the bullet, buy the correct stuff.
or go on Eflea, buy a lot then buy the right stuff.
but NOTanything is gonna work correctly from the jonnyrude.
