Best hope that computer is still good. Just checked and the computer is no longer available. Even if it was, the price was $1348. Get with me and I'll walk ya thru the check list to be sure.
TheCaptKen@aol.com

Re: Yamaha I/O Parts

Howdy everyone, It's been since October last year that I have had to jump in your conversations and ask Capt Ken a question. Last topic was a similiar problem like scotts (shifting). Now, I have come across something new. I need to replace my water pump impellers, but my local yammie dealer says they are discontinued. Is there a suitable substitute that would replace my water pump and still match my bolt holes? Oh, yea, I have the 4.3L GM V-6 or can I get this from you Cappy? :D I also would like to get a new o-ring too. Scott, If you check out the Yamaha website and find a corporate office number close to you, then you can call them and they were nice enough to print me out that CD parts book. I have a complete list of every part, the only hard thing comes when yamaha no longer makes the part's. I wanted to thank you all for your help and please help me get back out on the water, I am losing my sea legs!! :p

OK Sherman, I'll tell you this but you have to keep it a secret. If you tell anyone, I'll have to send my top agent "Trent" to come visit you. Go get a Jabsco service kit #18838-0001. It will have the impeller and the O ring in the package. If Jabsco isn't available then use the Sherwood impeller #9959. Both are easy to get. The pump is made by Sherwood and not Yamaha.

Thank you for the info. I did order the Jabsco impeller kit. Ken your secret is safe with me. Now I just want to ask where I can get a new thermo, and what brand would you reccommend replacing the fuel fileter with. Thank you again, Justin

As you probably already know, the filter is the same as Mercruiser so just about any of them will work.As for the thermostat, just snatch it out and go down to the marine parts store and match it up.

Thank you again, as soon as I receive the parts, I should be back out on the water again. I did find another thermo, the only temps they had was 140 and 160, so I went with the 140. I will ask them about the fuel filter also. I owe you as usual. Thanks Capt Ken.

Dear Captain Ken,

Please think really hard and try to telepathicly fix my boat.

Yours Truly,
Scott - frustrated, in dry dock, while they once again take apart my lower unit in hope of some magical answer popping out at them, but nevermind because I'm pounding through bottle after bottle of Crown Royal to soothe my troubled soul - 261

Ask them if you can claim them as dependants on your tax return. Don't be hogging all that Crown!!! Crown in Canada is probably like rum in the islands. Bottle of rum is a heck of alot cheaper than a six pack of Bud. Dang if that don't bring back memories. I need to deliver another yacht to the islands this year or at least to Key West.

I have a 4.3L V-6 Yamaha. I have a cracked power steering bracket. Can I assume I can take it to an auto parts store and get it replaced?

Thanks.

Matt

yep, I've got two sitting around gathering dust. Never has a Power steering bracket break. Now I've seen the alternator bracket give up the ghost several time.
