Yamaha f115 oil level

Looking to purchase a 2002 yamaha f115. While checking the oil level noticed that it was dark and the level was about 1 inch above the high mark!Is this bad?

It could be "making oil", which is not the end of the world but it is definitely not good.

Read about 4 strokes "making oil" in the Engine FAQs Forum.
