Yamaha 9.9 4 stroke

Hi i have just bought a yamaha 4 stroke from around 1985 how do i find out the date its made from its serial number, and will this engine have any common problems?this is my first post so go easy on me

ahoy again its g68 ul783928 cheers also the auto choke does not seem to be working so at the start i have to take the case off and do it is there a way to fix this or do i need a spare part if so where do i get it from many thanks
