Hello. First time boat owner. Got a 2003 90hp yamaha 4 stroke. I changed the oil and gear oil recently. Now when I come back from fishing I will get this oil dripping from the lower unit. When I changed the oil I did not properly place a.drain pan and oil went to the lower unit. Do you think this oil is coming from the oil that seeped in? I notice there is a mix of water and oil. 20230618_075915.jpg

We pulled out the lower unit today. We kinda saw where the leak is coming from. Maybe I over filled the oil?20230625_110448.jpg

Just sharing how this issue was resolved. I had a mechanic check the motor. He diagnosed the motor running hot. The oil blowback was due to the motor running hot. Mechanic ran the motor without thermostat which fixed the overheating issue. After running motor for more than 20 minutes there is no more oil out of the hole.

and the motor needs to have a proper working stat in place to make all parts of the motor to have the proper cooling water circulation.
