when we want too gain speed I push down on throttle , not responsive , moving throttle slowly , eventually it opens up when this happens it jolts passengers,
I back it down too find sweet spot and it runs fine
Happens around 2500 - 3000 rpms

Where does it say HDMI on it? Do you mean HPDI? I have never heard of HDMI relating to a Yamaha outboard, but that could easily just be me. I thought the OX66 was the carbureted, oil-injected model. I thought the OX66 and HPDI were 2 different engines.

Anyway, since I do not see any more professional help, I will try and help you out. Take the cowling off with the throttle cable connected without starting the engine and push the throttle on the remote forward. Does the throttle cable move the accelerator lever smoothly and consistently when you move the remote control lever forward? If it does move smoothly and consistently, then it probably isn't the throttle cable.

Take off the throttle cable on the engine and then advance the accelerator lever on the engine by hand with the engine running in neutral. You can do this on the hose and motor flusher. If the throttle advances like it is supposed to and the engine revs up normally by moving the accelerator lever on the engine yourself, your throttle cable is probably bad. You can also try this on the water if someone steers the boat for you. But don't hammer it obviously or you will get wet. I would try it off the water first.

The professionals (definitely not me) need engine specifics. The model number and serial number of your outboard to help you. It should be on your engine bracket, just take a picture of it.

The OX 66 models are oil injected with conventional fuel injection. The HPDI models are oil injected with direct injection. As noted, two different motor types.

There is no throttle shifter sensor in either model.

The throttle handle moves X number of degrees, after it has shifted into forward or reverse, before it starts to open the throttle valves. Is this what you are referring to?

Thanks for your info I got it ,
Yamaha OB is new too me, Always owing Volvo & Mercruiser IOs
Learning as I go ,
Compression was good , water test was good , but did have the hick up between 2500 & 3000, Dead spot then opened up , hull clean , transom no hollow , heavy duty trailer , Able too stand in cuddy , After selling a 30 ft cabin cruiser I was eager too get a WA trailer boat, always liking the GW
Long as compression and over all boat was sound , figured I would deal with each issue . Best of all good deal on a 22 ft GW seaferer
Issue I was referring too was trottle position sensor , Made my own jumper cables , meter and found it was out of wack , Adjusted sensor , Took boat out yesterday and no more dead spot ,
As far as engine model , cant find it , Tag is not read able , I w as on Yamaha forum and was told too look for stamped numbers near starter , Cant seem too find anything , Not having model number is a bear when ordering parts , I do know its a OX 66 , - thanks
