My 2001 130 hp v4. When I adjust the oil pump lever clip at the oil pump arm I'm having a little trouble. If I adjust it so the lever hits the pin on the pump (low speed throttle closed position) it short changes the pin at full throttle. It just about makes it to the full throttle pin on the pump. And vice versa if I make it touch the full throttle pin it short changes the idle speed pin on the pump. We are talking very small amounts between the pin and the lever. I adjusted it so it definitely hits the full throttle pin at full throttle and almost touches the pin for idle. The plastic clip that goes into the carb lever (where you flip it to lock it onto the oil pump rid) is new as well as the adjustable plastic socket for the oil pump end of the rod. My motor seems a little too smoky at idle and I'm wondering if this is the cause? I still have to fine tune the idle mix screws so that might be that. Thank you

check your service manual to see what it says.
the manual for a 1999 40-50 says to open the throttle plates completly and adjust to 1mm away from the stop pin

The oil pump control lever is not supposed to be hitting anything at the wide open throttle position. It is set in the throttle closed position. It will be wherever it will be in the wide open throttle position.

Ok thank you that helps. I was just nervous I was going to run oil too lean at full throttle

Where did you get that info from? My manual says set it in the wide open position.

You may be thinking of the bleeding procedure or the procedure used to measure the oil quantity being delivered over time. Which are performed with the oil pump in the furthest position that it can be.

LIT-18616-02-72 covers the OP's model regarding syncing the oil pump to the throttles. Here is the text from the SM.
