Yamaha 115 Tilt/Trim drops RPMs to zero at WOT

I have a four year old 115 yamaha four stroke that runs fine but sometimes when I adjust the tilt or trim while running full speed, the RPMs instantly drop to zero and on one occasion killed the engine. My windshield does not taste very good.

I suspect a short or something with the electrical system but don't see anything obvious and don't know exactly where to look.

look for loose battery connections.
