Re: xr6 not going into forward
Pop the cowl to get at the shift linkage. Remove the brass barrel and end termination of the cable from the engine. Manually shift through the 3 gears with your hand ensuring that you are turning the prop while going into R without the engine running....slots and cogs have to line up to complete the shift. Check the prop in each position to ensure that it is shifting properly. If so, problem is in linkage setup or control box.
Set the control in N and wiggle back and forth to get the center. With the engine in N place the barrel over it's slot and look at the hole in the end of the cable and the post on the engine shifter it is supposed to fit over. If hole is not directly above the post, rotate the barrel up or down the threaded area till it will. Put the barrel back in the slot and lock things down like they were.
You should be good to go.
