That was my best guess on what to do. Didn't want to hurt anything pounding on it with a chisel though. Will do though. Thanks!

Got it off. Angled the chisel so it would help loosen the nut as well. It came off in about 10 minute of pounding. Thanks again!

If it happens again, get a 6 point wrench and try that. The 6 pointers will grip quite well where the 12 pointers slip. Sears has the ratchet wrenches that are 6 point.

I imagine I'm not the first person to round that nut. There wasn't enough room above the nut to get a wrench over it. Even if there was, I don't think there was enough room behind the nut either. The wrench slipped because the nut was at such an angle that the wrench wasn't quite all the way on. When the wrench started to move the leverage of the tips of the wrench forced it even farther off. If the nut has been just a gas bit tighter or looser it would not have been a problem. I tightened the new nut in such a way that I can get the wrench all the way on it next time.

I actually took a 6 point boxend and ground it down on a belt sander, real thin, to fit in there
