Re: WOT rpms

The WOT rpm has many different factors prop size & pitch, boat weight, water conditions. What was the rpms before you change the cable, don't expect more rpms from changing it . More rpms = better fuel ecconomy and a long life of you engine. Normally it should be about 5500 on a perfect set up. Depending how and what it was setup for your rpms vary.the typical way to get more out of the motor is to change the prop but some time you will lose top speed mph or the hole shot

What is the Pitch and Prop size you have? How much fuel are you holding and how many poeple are on board, were you going with or against the current, was it windy and do you have a T-top? There are soo many factors when it comes to propping your boat, you will either give up the Hole Shot or Top End Speed, but worth it to get it propped correctly. You may have alot of slippage if you are propped correctly and need to get it looked at if so.

Here is a great Prop Calcuator http://www.csgnetwork.com/marinepropcalc.html

Doesn't matter. If the highest RPM that you can reach with your average load is 4500, all others things being normal, you are over-propped and should consider a propeller with a lower pitch.

I would look at a 17 for that boat depending on the conditions you may lose some "bite". Over prop sucks for engines as they need to rev up to the specs!
