I have posted this before, but have new updates for you outboard specialists. I have a 1978 chrysler 70hp. When I run at WOT the boat has an intermittent miss. It sounds to me like a cylinder is running lean. At WOT it runs about 30mph. If I back it down just a little to 26mph the miss goes away completely. I have rebuilt the fuel pump and have tested it. At idle it pumps around 10 gallons per hour which seems more than enough. I have also put on an aftermarket electric pump because I thought the carbs were starving for gas. Still had the same miss. The engine doesn't start to miss until it runs wide open for about 10-15 seconds then starts the miss. I was told that the carbs had been rebuilt, but can't be sure on that. Like I said though, the engine runs good the rest of the time. I know a lot about 4 stroke engines, but don't know much about 2 strokes. Oh yeah, the timing seems to be right. Is there a way to pinpoint which cylinder is missing. I have checked the plugs, and they all look the same. Probably running a little rich from the looks of it, which I no is contrary to what I think the problem is. When the miss occurs, it sounds like a backfire through the carb which makes me believe it is a lean condition. Help would definitely be appreciated. Thanks
