Newt is a very smart fella and has had as profound an effect on our Country as any Cornservative since Ronald Reagon n' Barry Goldwater in the early 1990s, (that is why Libs n' Dems really seem to hate him).
A national ID card (contracted out to private enterprize if ya want it done properly or by BIG GOVERNMENT if ya want more inefficientcy) could solve the employer part of the immigration problem very quickly. Only problem is that it would give the Democrats or weak Republicans a powerfull tool to hurt citizens rights and abuse their power with such a card.
Here is the trouble. The Democrats have been intentionally sabotaging immigration for nearly forty years at all levels of government but most effectively at the State and local level, and they have a purpose in mind: they think illegal immigrants will support them politically to grow the Nanny Government, (and Liberals n' Democrats' power over all citizens), to force income and assett redistribution. They are likely right.
That is why the Liberal Judges in California Newt talks about found in favor of the illegals who were fired for using false documents. That is why Liberal Democrat dominated States like Washington issue drivers licences to illegals n' prohibit questions about citizenship status by law. They know that employers are caught in the cross hairs. They also very effectively created the URBAN MYTH repeated by the MSM that Business, (all business is bad because it makes profits BTW), wants illegals to prerform cheap labor,( n' business is the same as Republicans, [business = bad Republicans = bad). Business does not want illegal labor they want legal labor.
The Democrats now have it both ways (with the help of the MSM). They largely created this problem years ago with some help from wobbly weak Republicans, but the perception of the Democrat supporters n' some Cornservatives is that Republicans n' big business want cheap labor, (giving the true villans a free pass). The broken system Newt refers to is intentional and created by Democrat n' Liberal design, that is why it remains broken for such a long period of time. If the Republicans make an effort to fix the problem, (as they tried recently and in 1986), they are blamed by the Dems and the MSM and fail and are blamed again for the failure and lose seats to the party benifiting from the problem that created it in the first place.
That is the problem with a broken MSM and a population that has lost the ability to think critical thoughts. Democrats work to cause problems and crisis so they can grow their power n' act like they are trying to fix things with pajama parties when they are clearly trying to cause more problems.
The modern Democrat party is the party that intentionally sets us up to fail so they can politicaly benifit from the failure with the help of the MSM. This is in matters of Immigration, War, (Vietnam and now Iraq), and of course: hurricanes that hit New Orleans, (ya really don't think Republicans were running New Orleans do you?). The only way this will change is when Democrat supporters start to think, or the Liberal dominated portions of the MSM fail due to lack of veiwers/readership.
As bad as things sound right now there is a silver lining. Americans are fat n' happy with low interest rates, low unemployment, high stock prices. The Democrats are bound to get their wish and cause some sort of crisis where hopefully the American people actually wake up and look at things carefully. That day will not be good for Democrats IMHO. JR
