Hello, I am new to the forum and this is my first post. We are long time boaters on Long Islands south shore. We are looking for a old Chris Craft style boat that we can restore and make into a bar in our home. Looking for any advice or direction where we can find a wooden boat in need of salvage that we can modify and restore. Thanks in advance! Regards, Jason

Re: Wooden Boat for project

I don't think restore an old Chris Craft & make into a bar really go together, but ChrisCrafts have a fairly strong following so I don't know that you'll find many bargains that could be restored inexpensively. If you mention the bar conversion, some may be reluctant to sell boats in decent shape.

Get a craigslist search-bot or use a search engine that searches CL across the US: Adhuntr.com (NO 'e') SearchTempest
Ebay
Oodle.com
Freeboatshopper.com (ads are free, not the boats )
Check the free boats ads @Wooden Boats magazine (I think you can access them online)
BoneYardBoats.com (site is currently down), free boat ads require a subsciption

On Long Island, visit some marina's & boat storage yards, you might get lucky & find a decent boat behind on storage or slip fees....

You could also buy the plans to build a wooden boat, & modify the plan to fit your bar. A fully restored ChrisCraft would be cost prohibitive to most to then convert into a bar. And as a bar it doesn't really need to be a functional boat does it?

Good luck w/ your search
