I wouldn't redo ANY wood on an uncovered, stored outside boat, esp not going into winter in PA....... Prep, plan maybe, but NOT installed.....

What 1978 Starcraft dash?

Depending on that ^^^ you may have a bit of work to do to remove the existing wood....

I would suggest get some plywood (marine not necessary) and once finished, encapsulate in fiberglass matt and resin. Or build just a stick frame work, cover with cloth and then lay on fiber glass matt and resin. Now if your wanting to see the wood grain then use teak, but you probably won't find it at the local hardware store.

Pix would help....

But you're leaving the covered bow intact, correct? So it looks something like this:

no pic but yes not going to open the bow may keep some water out of the boat crossing the bar. I like your steps don't have them ,dash was one part.ply wood with plastic sheet over it. Look like you need some work on your dash too. That scares me that it looks like she gave way at the sterring side

Yes I do, for now it's still covered.

I think it collapsed from being left uncovered for quite some time.
