I have a 2000 Mercury 175 EFI that won't stay running unless you hold the key in. Fuel pressure and fire ok. Is it the ECM?

Re: Won't stay running

I would suspect dirty injectors long before I would suspect an ECU.

The choke prods the ECU to increase pulse width to hold the injectors open longer, thus flow more fuel to a cold engine.

Dirty injectors reduce fuel flow, choking thus adds some fuel.

If the boat is in the water, test fuel pressure in gear, throttle open as far as possible, choke on if necessary to keep it running, assuming that you have already changed filters, if fuel pressure remains within spec, then

I would test the temp sensor, if that checks within tolerance then pull the injectors and send them in to Tony Brucado for cleaning, he's far more reasonable than buying a new set of injectors.
