Just courious, but how many of the posters here have thier wife, girl, or significant other go fishing with them. My wife likes to go hunting with me, but not too excited about going fishing. she likes to get immediate results. she does like to sunbath while i fish, oh well at least she will ride in the boat with me.

Re: Women and fishing

My wife and daughters love the boat. On purchasing a new one, I had the Porta Potti as a must have in the list, for their convenience/comfort. When the Dealer somewhere told me the boat I was inquiring about did not have the space for one, he said to "just leave them at home". That was when I took my business somewhere else. I make sure I make the ride as smooth as possible and am ready to bring them back to shore when they have had enough. Bring the drinks they like, bait thir hooks, remove their fish, just "guide" for them. With hte children, it helps if you bring friends along, remember TAKE A CHILD FISHING OR HUNTING.

:)

My daughter likes to fish - my wife likes to sunbath and pack the picnic lunch. Works for me!

In our house, I probably beg to go fishing more times than he does. I get real edgy if I can't go at least 5-6 times a month.

Sometime I'm nice and invite my husband to go with me and Captain the boat while I fish. :p

My wife and two daughters love to fish and the wife will even bait her own hook. The only problem with this (if you can call it a problem) is that they prefer to go after smaller fish that I consider and use as bait. The girls are finally beginning to want bigger fish but I don't think I will ever see the wife getting to that point.

My wife loves to fish, son loves to fish, and the 15 month old daughter loves her bathtub finshin pole toy. I took her on the boat last month and she was busting a gut to get a hold of the rod and reel. If you take it away from her she cries. So I guess she is going to love fishing too. Wife also likes to hunt, but she only is armed with a camera.

My dad fishes and mom did when she was younger. My sister and her husband run a fishing tournamnet.

So yes, women do fish.

Ken

How come all of you got the gals that want to fish??????????
My wife will go, but has a very short fuse if we're on the water very long.
My 6yr old daughter likes to attempt fishing!!!
I should put this on stupid human tricks, but when I was teaching her to cast with her little Tazmanion devel rod, she got good enough I tied on a small jig and a bobber...standing slightly behind her, on the wind-up, the jig stuck through my jeans where the legs come together, and, yes...when she let'r fly, it hurt SOOOOO bad.
Hopefuly, she will become my best fishing partner, although I've got one at 15 months (boy), that I hope will enjoy the water as well!!! :)

my wife also loves to fish. she is my number one fishing partner. she baits her own hook and takes most of her own fish off. she wont mess with a bullhead or a northern pike tho. she loves to catch those pike but its my job to get em off the hook. so far this year she has two 38 inch northerns. my biggest so far is only 36. I keep telling her she only has the bigger ones because i am to busy being the guide. plus she packs the drinks and the snacks and keeps the boat nice and clean :D

my wife likes to fish when she's catching, but she hates my boat because i put a bit of money into it. yea, it sounds stupid but thats the way it is! i just got another boat and she likes it so we'll see... the kids (boys 13, 7) like to fish but the older one gets boared easily and wants to just cruise around in the boat.

I love to take my wife fishing. She catches some rays while I fish, but to tmake it fun for her, I've learned to be busy when we get a strike so she "has" to reel it in ;) Never see her smile that big doing laundry :D

My Kids 2 and 5 love the boat and prefer to swim but both also fish. My Wife likes to fish when I start catching them but until then she observes. Wife wants to try deer hunting this year but pry wont do much as she will be 8 mos pregnant come rifle season. Last year I had both kids with me when I shot a deer, My daughter said " wow what was that". Still smile when I think about her reaction.

The Admiral and Commodore love to fish. They can't wait for me to get the new floor into the boat so they can go more often.

Also the Commodore loves to sit in the woods with Daddy so this year I will buy a blind and take her turkey hunting.

Re: Women and fishing

Wife loves to fish, she outfishes me all the time so it could get depressing if she didnt share with me.

I usually ask her to bait the hooks, while i work the downriggers, she puts the perfect roll on an anchovie and probably has a nicer smell to her hands than i do cause her baited hooks will outfish mine ten to none.

So far this year she has landed a 22.5 and a 25 pound spring while my biggest was a 21.5 pounder. Yup you guessed it she baited the hook for that one too.

We were out fishing the day before our son was born, she was 9 months and 2 weeks pregnant, and we got back in with our limit (4 coho and 4 pinks) about 4 hours before her contractions started (I knew those waves would do the trick).

Wife loves to fish, she will only go with me on the boat if I position it wher she can sit in the baot seat. She will not seat or stand on the for or aft casting decks. Love to have her go as she drives the boat and I find the fishing spots. Oh yes she catches more than I do. She wont clean her fish, but I dont have to cook mine.

Re: Women and fishing

my wife doesn't care a thing about fishing, but my little 4yrold daughter got the bug. so during the summer when we go out together, ride, wade, then throw out the earthworms for bream - the wife gets all interested and next thing you know its just them doing the catchin, and i'm rebaiting for them ;)

my wife won't touch the earthworms, but our little girl doesn't mind, she even likes to throw some to the fish in the livewell. and she likes to dump the livewell fish back in the lake after i scoop em out with the net.

My wife doesn't care for fishing but my 11 year old loves to fish. If they're not biting where we are she's the first to suggest we move. I've tried to teach that you can't catch fish if the bait's not in the water and she's good with that.
