Woke up this morning with a tree on the boat

Tree fell last night across the fence and on my boat. I’ve been working on this project for a year off and on. All I could think of was the time I invested in it and finally got it trustworthy. Running good and it’s time to be fishing.
After I carefully cut around it and pulled it out it wasn’t that bad. It damaged the transom though by causing a welded spot to crack. A limb landed on a rod holder on the outside corner and I guess the impact cracked the weld.
Also the weld is not my work.
Does anyone know the best way to repair it so I can get back on the water?

Fire up the tig welder and reweld
Thanks for the reply.I haven’t welded in years and never on aluminum. But I have a place right here in town that’s all they do. Thats my next stop tomorrow to see if they’ll do a small job. They’ve modified one or two for some folks I know. Turned one boat into a tunnel hull.

You might want to check any other critical welds and maybe get them fixed as well.
Where it broke does it look perfectly fresh or are there signs that it might have been starting to crack?

I had previously noticed it starting to crack the tree just advanced it. I crawled all around the boat and couldn’t find anything else. That little picked fence took the brunt of the tree. It was starting to give so I shored under the tree right away and it held while I was cutting.

I was given that handle over 20 years ago by my fishing buddies. And I earned it.
I worked at a boat shop for a while. If they wanted to know if there was anything wrong with a used boat that came in they’d give it to me for a few days. I’d find it out especially if it leaked. Two almost sank but I always made it back to the trailer. Had to drive one around in circles to keep the water out while my partner backed in the trailer. Battery strap broke in rough water and the battery broke a live well fitting. It was a small Triton tr17 I took on trade at the shop. A technician put new hoses under the cowling of a 225 EFI and made he them to long. He worked all night on the rig so I could fish a tournament in the morning. When I hit wot the long hose got caught in the throttle and all I could do was drive 80mph. until I finally hit the kill switch.
Never a problem with my personal rig a tr21. I had one prop strIke on a stump taking a corner to sharp. Only took the cup out of a blade.
When I first got this old boat running I’d go out in the wind and the 40 hp. Yammi kept me on top of the waves. I thought about it after a couple of those trips and decided to stop driving a flat bottom like it was a bass boat. With my name being what it is and all. Lol I’m a fair weather fisherman now.
