Wiring info for my Merc 150 (75-76)

I'm new to the forum, name is Rich....... I just pulled of my 1999 Merc 4 stroke (carbs) SLUG and replaced it with a 1976 Merc 150 two stroke.... all the cables and steering fell in place, no problems.....My question is, can I use the main power cable which is a 8 pin and splice on my 2 stroke seven pin. What wires from the seven pin go with the 8 pin ???????
