wire problems

i have a 1980 85 horse mercury everything works fine and dandy but my rpm guauge is not working i have tested it on another motor so i know it works but can anyone tell me which wire to connect it to. which color wire does it connect to from the harness or where on the engine can i connect it to? any help would be appreciated thanks

The best way to tell is goto the rectifier on one of the yellow wires there should be a gray wire connected at the terminal either hook it there or on the gray wire which should run to the front of the boat in the wire loom
