I hate the thought of even having to bring the topic up. I've recently heard the school of thought now is to store the boat with the fuel tank empty versus full with fuel stabilzer. Thoughts?

Re: Winterizing

You will get about the same amount of people that do it either way, both sides saying they have never had any problems.

Whichever way you do it will probably be fine. I highly doubt there is any noticeable difference between the two schools of thought.

I have an internal tank, which is very difficult to drain, so i use fuel stabilizer and leave it full over the winter. Have done this with every 2 stroke(and 4 stroke) engine i have ever owned and never had a problem. Everything from lawn mowers, generators, motorcycles(both 4 and 2 stroke), to chain saws, and weed eaters as well as stored automobiles...

Re: Winterizing

As eckark says, you'l get differing opinions. I have stored my tank full back in the days of 18 gal tanks, back in the day of real gasoline. However, my Q6 has a 54 gallon tank, and even with stabilizer, I don't want to run 3-4 month old fuel through my engine. After draining my q6 2 years ago (btw only the last 5 gal smelled questionable), I no longer keep my tank full.

Instead I run my tank down to less than 1/8 (fuel has stabilizer), and then when I get the boat out in Feb I fill up before running the motor.
