I am winterizing my 2004 175 Bayliner with Mercruiser 3.0 Alpha One by myself for the first time, (Marina not an option this season) I started by trying to fog with engine running on the muffs the engine cranks fine but won`t start, it ran find two days earlier when I removed it from the water. The engine has a "Single Point Drain System" so I pulled the two blue hoses and lowered them into the bilge below the point where they connect to the engine, I would say approx, 2 quarts of water drained out, is this right? is there any other procedure other that changing oil and filter and gear oil that I need to perform, I have found many conflicting opinions regarding adding anti-freeze (air doesn`t freeze or expand with cold) I live in Ontario Canada, winter temps may drop to in excess of -30 degrees

I have the 05 3.0 in my 175.
I don't fog my motor, so i don't know if I can help you much there..
But single point drain system can be a pain in the butt. You can almost never be sure all the water's out. I think I got just over a gallon of water out of the block and manifold.
After, I filled with antifreeze through the large hoses connected to the thermostat housing.
To be completely sure, antifreeze came out of the water intake, and where the water usually exits from the transom, so look there.
I also made a double check by draining some from the single point drain system, and made sure antifreeze was coming out and not water.
That's it for me.

Oh, and you might want to consider changing your gear lube in the outdrive, engine oil, and the oil filter if you haven't already.

Thanks kellmike626's... Great input, it has also been suggested to blow compressed air though the drain hoses to ensure the water has drained completely and dry out the system... any thoughts on this
