There is a heck of a lot more information in the OEM manual than how to overhaul it. There is also exact draining procedures, along with pictures of the cooling system.\
Here is one page out of the manual for 93-97 5.7 engines. There are more pages for specific setups for those years.

Yeah, I said the OEM manuals are much better. My real underlying point is that some people would be MUCH better off in the long run if they just paid a professional to do it right.

On my inboard outboards, I never use RV antifreeze. It's not designed to go into gasoline motors.

I unscrew the plugs on my block, and manually drain the blocks. I also drain any petcock on the engine or exhaust.

I've never seen an engine freeze with no liquids in it. And air doesn't freeze and crack blocks.

And it doesn't take a professional marine mechanic that charges $300 for a simple 1/2 hour job.
