Winterization issue

Hi all, this is my first year with an omc cobra 3.0L 1990 and I'm winterizing.

I'm following all the steps to drain block, manifold, etc. I backfilled everything with antifreeze at the engine, but when I was filling the manifold the antifreeze eventually backed up out of the hose and wouldn't come out the exhaust like it does in all the explanations and youtube vids.

I know the manifold is full because I checked the drain again but I don't know why it won't flow through to the exhaust. Am I still safe for winter? Cold Temps are coming this weekend.

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,...... How were you filling the manifold,..??
The flow has to be high enough to go up,. 'n over the riser, to get out the exhaust pipe,....

As far as safe winterization, you could have quit after the water was drained from the block, 'n manifold,....
Air don't freeze,....

Thanks for the reply. Been stressing about this! My marine tech was talking about pulling the outdrive to make sure all the water got out of the pivot housing. People have me paranoid about every drop of water.

I was filling with a funnel, no pump. Maybe I just didn't have enough pressure to get up over the riser. That's really helpful, much appreciated. Maybe next year I'll try a 12v pump or something.

Ayuh,...... Just put the drive down, 'n any water runs out,.......

I store my boats dry,...... drain everything, 'n it's good for freezing temps,....

Should pull the drive every year to check alignment, u-joints and gimbal bearing as part of the winterization process.
