So after a week of fighting with my car, spending too much $, and to boot, the clutch is slipping now.. i go out for drive today, hoping to maybe break in the clutch a bit, and see if it will get better after some mileage.. I left my house and the sun was shining. 10 mins later, the snow started.. and in another 5 mins, it was a white out snow squall. First pic is when it started to get nasty.. second pic, believe it or not, there was another vehicle just 10 car lengths in front of me. I managed to get my running around done, and as I was heading back home when I came across the accident in the last pic. Two young guys, shaken but uninjured. I stuck around for a bit till a cop showed up. The driver told me it started to 'push' and slide towards the ditch, and he tried to 'save it with the ebrake' Im guessing too much speed, not enough skill/experience..

I know this area and the roads very well, and this particular section of road ALWAYS gets a few people a year.. its a down hill left curve, and the road actually banks towards the ditch.. The fact that the tires on that car appeared to be half bald summer/all season tires sure didn't help that guy! Ya i got some problems, but hey, at least my car isn't rolled over in a ditch!

Looks a little like my drive home Thurs night. I live an hour from St. John's. About 20min out of town the snow started. About 1/2 way home I had to turn off the headlights and just use the driving lights to see. It was the only way to reduce the glare from the falling snow. Ten about 15min from home the track I had been following disappeared. I was the one making the track. The falling snow was so thick I had to slow down to about 60km/h from the limit of 100km/h. Also had to use 4X4 because it was so slippery.

It's was 75 degrees and a bit cloudy here today so I didn't go boating/fishing. But I was thinking about you.

Had to go the city for an early Dr's appointment again. A small snow fall last night. This mornings drive wa not good. When it snowed it started to thaw, then re-froze over night. Early morning salt trucks helped but not much. Had a mixture of ice and slush on the way in. Had to drive on that mess for about an hour. By this afternoon it had thawed enough to melt almost all of the ice and slush.

We are looking at the coldest Thanksgiving in quite a while. Low 60's for the high.

Just a gut feeling but I think Southern New England is going to get slammed this winter. I hope I'm wrong but I just came back from walking the dog and it's already 18 degrees and it's not even Thanksgiving yet!!!!!

Weather is supposed to improve over the next day or so. Up to the positive side of freezing. Hopefully it will melt some of the ice that's still around. I don't mind the snow, its the ice I don't like driving on.

Here are a few photos from a storm we had. This is not a once in a 100yrs storm, more like a once a month storm in winter.

The snow is by our back door, where it relatively protected, for refernce the tractor tires are roughly 28" high, the 2 cars are our neighbors across the street. They are Paramedics trying to get out to a call.
