Got water in fuel & thinking the tank must be pinholed on the bottom.

Need help!

I actually have a 21' Viscount Cuddy circa 1972. When I bought it the floor was gone and the tank was laying in place. What do you need to know?

Was your tank aluminum? How difficult did it look to remove? Was there a vent on it?
My deck is covered in carpeting & I was hoping to find a tank access panal when I expose the bare deck.

I don't know what the original tank was made from. The replacement tank is steel. There are no access panels, you have to cut the floor. Yes there is a vent on the tank, on my boat the fill is on the starboard side on the small deck in arm's reach from the helm. The vent is on the port side under a cowl vent near the front seat.
Previous owner of my boat had removed most of the flooring. The good news is that there are 2 stringers that run the length of the passenger deck, if you cut the deck along the center of the stringers from engine bay to cuddy, you can easily remove the tank and replace the cut deck. http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f112/gspiggle/2006_0407shelby5party0050.jpg
If you look to the left of the cabin door, you will see a metal strip on my floor, that is over one stringer, there is another stringer on the right at the same distance I have been too lazy to put a strip down on the right side. When I put the deck back, I left the center section removeable so that I could access the tank. The white round hatch (at the bottom of the anchor) is my access to the fuel level guage, fill connection, and vent connection.

Thats really good info. thanks!
Your portside seating is a fold-out. mine is another high level chair, but I like yours better.
I'll let you know how this is coming along-still a bit cold here to actually start working on it!

Do you think it possible for rain to get into the vent?
How far away from the cabin door would the stringer centre be? How wide is the stringer?
Would you send me an email to scradio@yahoo.com
Thanks

I'll go out and see what I can do. The weather here has been less than desirable to be in. The tank vent on my boat is located inside a clamshell vent on the port side of the cuddy. I would think it would be hard for rain to get into it.

Re: Winner Viscount cuddy 21'

I just took delivery of a 1970 Viscount. It is in ok shape except for the floor. the boat is complete and on a 91 sea lion trailer. I have to go over it but i will be looking to sell it on ebay or craigs list in a week or two. If anyone is interested i would much rather it go to someone who could use it whole or make one good boat from it. If this is in bad form to put a classified out i am sorry. It is not my intention to disrupt what looks like a very dedicated bunch of Winner owners.
