gspig said:I don't know what the original tank was made from. The replacement tank is steel. There are no access panels, you have to cut the floor. Yes there is a vent on the tank, on my boat the fill is on the starboard side on the small deck in arm's reach from the helm. The vent is on the port side under a cowl vent near the front seat.
Previous owner of my boat had removed most of the flooring. The good news is that there are 2 stringers that run the length of the passenger deck, if you cut the deck along the center of the stringers from engine bay to cuddy, you can easily remove the tank and replace the cut deck. http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f112/gspiggle/2006_0407shelby5party0050.jpg
If you look to the left of the cabin door, you will see a metal strip on my floor, that is over one stringer, there is another stringer on the right at the same distance I have been too lazy to put a strip down on the right side. When I put the deck back, I left the center section removeable so that I could access the tank. The white round hatch (at the bottom of the anchor) is my access to the fuel level guage, fill connection, and vent connection.
