......I normally fuel our V-20 in route to our favorite launch sites. On this particular day the only available fueling island presented the boat in a slight bow-down attitude, thus the fuel tank?s vent tube was probably submerged causing a minor splash-back from the fill port as the tank approached full. A quick wipe down and away we go.

After launching, venting the bilge and about an hour into our fishing, the XO commented that she smelt gas. I recounted the fueling mishap to her and watched her as she thought that through.

Several minutes had passed when she commented, ?Really Ed, here?s the source of the gas odor. You forgot to replace the lid. You really do miss the obvious? as she gently closed the rain cap on the stern light socket!

DON"T let her put the fuel in the boat!! Have you read the numerous threads here about people putting the fuel in the cup/rod holder? Just smile politely and do it yourself ;):p

Re: Wimmens, Gotta Love 'em....

Don't feel bad. I have an engineering degree and my wife won't listen to a darn thing I tell her. Just 2 days ago we were installing a light fixture, I was holding it up as she made the connections. I spent 5 minutes (while holding up the light) trying to explain to her why she needed to tighten the ground wire more than just hand (finger) tight.

In the end I gave up on explaining and had to tell her to just get the screwdriver and tighten the little green nut now!! I don't care if the old fixture didn't have a ground wire.

If I tell my wife her way is not the right way, it's like a personal challenge to her to prove me wrong.

Re: Wimmens, Gotta Love 'em....

I left my wife holding the bow line one day, came back from parking and there she was still holding the slackened line, the wind had blown the boat sideways against the shore while she was giving her undivided attention taking to some other bibmo, She said "you only told me to hold the line"
It was all my fault that I had to wade in and push the boat off the shore, I leaned my lesson.

you know I have to say that at that point I would have had to plug in the "gas lantern" that goes in that socket.

Eddie you are a wise man to let her think she was right.

Avenger you are a wicked man who might gt thrown overboard. But I like your style!

Try this line on them (and duck): "Well, I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong."

Re: Wimmens, Gotta Love 'em....

Eddie did you tell her it was the cover for the light? or did you do the right thing and keep it between you and us on the internet??

I am on a Super late model race team(crew), the wife is really not into racing but from time to time she will make me happy and come watch.

She comes home and tells me the tranny is acting weird on her dakota and asks me to look at it, so I go outside and drive it around and clearly its done, I go back inside and tell her shes driving the power stroke until I can get a new tranny put into it, well she goes off on me about why this is some big operation and that I don't have time for her blah blah blah and I am truly surprised! This woman called me once to tell me her oil was low and wanted to know why everyone else puts brown oil in their cars while I have been putting green oil in her truck! So I'm like sweety thats not a little job I mean an automatic tranny for her truck probably weighs 400 lbs! She tells me that I'm full of it! I say how do you figure! She tells me last weekend I was with you at the race track and I remember you had to take the transmission out of the race car and it took me less then five minutes AND I did it by myself too!

In case you didn't know a 4 speed race transmission weighs about 60 lbs and has less then 10 bolts holding it in.

I love my wife but a mechanic she is not.

Re: Wimmens, Gotta Love 'em....

It goes on and on. My beautiful blond bimbo (Mrs. QC for short, and yes I'm the only one who can call her that and not to her face . . .), just yesterday, we had this one. 1998 Camry, key wasn't turning in the door to lock it after we parked. She's standing outside on the passenger side and she says "well I just use the button on the inside to lock it". And I reply, "but what if I can't get it unlocked after locking it that way?" I go on, "you open your door and I'll lock it from the inside and I'll see if the key works". So she opens her door, I lock from the inside and close my door as she closes hers . . . Luckily the key worked  My fault because I didn't say "don't close it." End of discussion, lunch went OK.

P.S. My bimbo comment is only meant as a really brightly colored feather jig trolling for LadyFish. This method will often get a HOOKUP!!!

Re: Wimmens, Gotta Love 'em....

OK just to be fair,

I get home this fine day before my wife since she is one of those people that believes school actually makes you a better person and she goes to school after work, I promptly lay my butt on the couch and assume my normal post 40 napping position. an hour or so later my stomach starts growling so I go throw a totino's pepperoni pizza in the oven and go back to my previous horizontal position(WHOOPS) well just then the wife walks in the door and says hello honey gives me my kiss and walks into the kitchen, then comes back out and asks me if I planned on removing the pizza from the oven? I tell her that the buzzer hasn't gone off, she says Oh you mean the buzzer that you know is broken on the oven or the fire alarm? and I mean just like it was planned that way the fire alarm goes off.

So I am still grounded from using the oven, I get PB and J when the wife is at school.

Re: Wimmens, Gotta Love 'em....

long ago I kept the LoneStar on a trailer parked near the lake-the house was 15miles away. Very late one night had consumed a few adult beverages out on the boat( ok-don't crucify me!) and I back the boat trailer in to the spot and I always unhook the trailer then unload the gear from the boat into back of truck. While I'm loading the gear she gets out and decides to "Help Me" .

We get in the truck to leave and as I'm pulling away BAM- the trailer is following us by the safety chains. We jump out and go look and I asked her
"Why did you hook the chains to the truck?"
she says " Cuz thats where they go!"

Re: Wimmens, Gotta Love 'em....

You can;t ground them. but you can give them a spankin.... :D and that leads to better things..

Yeah I tried that once......Woke up in the hospital, so While yes it could lead to better things it would be important to note that the wife has to have favorable view of being spanked first OR not be within arms reach of a baseball bat!!
