You can repair this but you need to make sure you have anodes and the unit should be pressure tested, And no CLR is not the answer for this severe corrosion on unit, other steps are nessessary to restore this surface.

The repainting was a success but I think I will replace the unit this winter or in the spring. Its just too close to the end of its life to keep putting a band aid on.
