Will a 1968 Manual work for a 1966?

I have a chance to get a 1968 Repair Manual for a Johnson 33 HP Outboard. I own the 1966 model
which those manuals are considarebly more expensive and harder to find. Did they change much in 2 years that the 1968 manual would be useless for me to get it? I cannot see that they would have changed that much.
Thanks!

Re: Will a 1968 Manual work for a 1966?

The model #'s for 66, 67, 68 appear to be the same (RX RXL RXE RXEL ) but the manuals have a different # ( 1966 is 14 and 1968 is 16 ). This was probably how they identified the years. In 1969 it looks like they changed the model numbering system to incorporate the year.
The only way to know for sure if they are the same would be to compare them, and I doubt anyone has both:(
As you say, it is unlikely there were any critical changes in the tune-up specs, but who knows for sure?
If you're planning on doing major surgery on the engine, I would get the correct manual!

Have you looked here??

Johnson 33 hp Outboard Manuals (1966-1970) - iboats

$38.99

"Original Factory Manual For 1966 Johnson 33 hp Outboards

To answer your question, tho, I doubt there's any difference between the two (1966 and 1968).
