Thanks, Fun Times and Aspeck for the background information I think it is helpful to the membership and should hold off questions about the planning process. As a techy type, iI always like to understand the underlying causes of system issues. Given that the Mods tested the system out beforehand, it seems more likely that something went wrong during the upgrade, and I know that will be a tough fix. Hopefully the folks at vBulletin can figure this out.

I am currently in charge of a large system conversion project at my place of employment. The system runs the entire company. As I sat in our weekly project team meeting yesterday, I could only think, 'we better test this thing six ways from Sunday'. The system is scheduled to go live in August, which is generally a slow time for the company. However, if we miss that window, we end up in our busiest time of year . (wish me luck)

Having gone through a less than successful Win 7 upgrade at my company, I can appreciate the frustrations the mods and admins must be enduring. Keep up the good work guys.

After Googling about vBulletin problems, it seems VB's support is less than stellar since the original developers/owners sold to another company. Saying that, just think what the state of the forum would be if iboats switched to a different platform. Changing over to another forum software provider would be a thousand times worse. Starting from scratch is one thing, but migration of an active user base to another makes this upgrade look like a walk in the park.

On the plus side - It is getting better. Once basic functions are working, the guys can start the tweaks to restore the nice to have features we previously enjoyed. I have time, I'll wait.

Our test forum was a fresh install, no upgrade needed. It seems like a lot of the errors did come from the upgrade which we are currently trying to work out. I only have access to certain things within vBulletin, basically anything with HTML/CSS I can edit. I do not have access to server files and can not give a good estimate on how much longer it will take. The entire IT department has been working all day, everyday for the past week trying to resolve these issues. We've even reached out to vBulletin developers to help with the issues. This whole process is frustrating for all of us, we appreciate everyone's patience and understanding as we work on getting everything running smoothly.

Once the IT fixes the server side issues, I will be able to start working on the tweaks and adding features.

aspeck said: "Now iboats is spending more money to hire a vBulletin techie to come in and fix vBulletin's issues." The irony is I used the "quote" function to do this and it didn't work so I had to cut and paste. :)

What's said there is so unfortunate and wrong...having to spend more money to repair a vBulletin problem. Vb used to be the standard in forums.

I've been involved from a moderator side on a few forums and as an administrator when a forum was upgraded, and can attest to the frustrations (albeit with a much smaller member base). I'd like to thank the admins and the mods for their hard work. Can't say I am not frustrated...I am too...but the hard work is appreciated.

iboats is too good a thing to give up on. It's hard to put into words (or saved dollars for that matter) what a huge help the membership has been to me. Let's be patient.

~~Sounds good and Thanks for all the updates.
Just want to mention that when I started this topic I had just popped in and thought the site was finally running correctly since I didn't receive any errors and that's when I noticed/mentioned the navigation issue.
Wasn't trying to pour gas on any fire...after all, I do appreciate the fact that we all enjoy this site for FREE.
Thanks again.
