Spend 93 billion on our troops in Iraq to help try to keep our troops safe. If we could save one Soldiers life with that money it would be worth it. Our country waste billions on give aways to other countries. On one side of the political forum there is a group wanting to cut off the funds to our troops and they speak from the other side of their mouths saying that they support them. It is like you and I working for a company and them telling us that they support us but yet we are cutting your pay and benifits, but remember "WE SUPPORT YOU."
I can best compare the Democrats on this issue to the Management Personal of ENRON!!!!

Re: Why Not!!

Ya know, Fly Rod, you and I agree on what is the right thing to do in Iraq: win. We agree that withdrawing prematurely is the least likely strategy to accomplish that.

At least I think we agree on that.

We are opposed by people that think we can't win and don't like the cost of continuing to try. They want to quit trying.

It is important that we win the debate on what to do.

I think the least likely strategy to win the true support of those who disagree with us is to demonize them with name calling.

Some of those people are in my own family :%:$:'(

They are sincere, patriotic Americans who don't see beyond their immediate concerns: the cost of the war and the way it has divided our country. Of course, they have been programmed by the MSM to hate our President, too. They have this flower child idea that "if we don't go there won't be any war" and that all the trouble is our President's fault.

Yes, of course they are wrong, but they are not evil cowards who want to turn the world over to the likes of Usama Bin Laden. They just want a cheap and easy way out.

You and I agree that there is no easy way out. We need to show them that, not inflame them with pointed fingers and name calling.

That's my opinion, and I am unanimous in that.

Re: Why Not!!

But it's the Rove-architected Neocon way, JB. Divide and conquor. Rush et al is a master of it. Has he ever had a kind word for any Democrat? (Lieberman doesn't count anymore) His relentless eviscerations of everything non-Bush keeps people tuning in. Then one of them inevetibly posts it here. The Bush Administration is one of divisiveness. I'm tired of it.

Well, WillyB, then Rove and Limbaugh are the wrong role models for how to unify our country on what needs to be done.

Our President respects the views of his opponents and seeks to persuade, not alienate.

I think that is the correct role model.

Hey JB, I am also usually on your side. I am also guilty of bluntly calling spades: spades, and I for one hope I am allowed to stay on this forum that I do enjoy and learn from. You may be right: that touchy feely stuff may work, (not for me here in the Seattle area), and if I read your post wrong, (you may in fact mean): polite discourse is always the best approach, (I totally agree on that point: JB). Some Liberals will engage in that way and it usually does not change minds but we both learn from the exchange of ideas, (Bro Haut comes to mind here and there are others too). My experience with "modern Liberals" is that they usually do not tolerate intelectual discourse, and can't seem to engage in a facts and history based dialogue. They quickly seem to get frustrated, (as much of their discourse seems to be based on emotions not the logical application of critical thinking). My $.02. Respectfully, JR

Right, OMR. Polite discourse has a chance to bring us together.

Imagining dishonorable motives in our opponents and lowering ourselves to name calling has zero chance of bringing us together.

If they imagine dishonorable motives in our President and those who support him and refuse polite discourse that is no justification for we indulging in the same destructive/disruptive behavior.

I am not talking touchy-feely, I am talking dignified discourse with respect for our opponents' (wrong) point of view.

Then I guess we do agree JB on dignified discourse! That said, I think one side's ideas need a severe thumpin' by actual events. Surrender does not work if one knows even a little bit of human history. Those political types, (current elected officials and much of our MSM) who are invested in defeat need to be crushed by events and the American people thinking and remembering what is happening. My faith in America leeds me to believe that this too shall pass and we shall prevail. I hope our enemies within and outside have zero success. Respectfully, JR ps Some of my family members are Libs too, (still luv 'em anyhooo) sorry for the "cornpone"

The democrats seem to be un-able to remember history. They are closet socialists/fellow travelers. All the want is power to rule over the rest off us; they don't care about people, they just want the power. Watch, when they cripple our war on terror, and we get hit again; it will be Bush's fault!

Well, JB, I appreciate the sentiment, even if I think you you are mischaracterizing the views of the opposition.

Re: Why Not!!

what do you expect from a group of people that 1)are afraid of their own shadows when it comes to war...I remember the term "I voted for the war before I voted against it"...2)the first thing out of ole billery's mouth was "I wanna strip the profits from the oil companies and use it for what we need!!!"....3)the dems recall vietnam...but damned if they can remember what happened when they screwed things up so badly that alot of american military men were killed needlessly cuz their hands were tied......not being able to prosecute the war the way we did during ww2....and finally...number 4...how soon they forgot about 9/11...how soon they forgot about the pentagon or that field in phili........
as far as I'm concerned....we're at war...these people want to kill us not because of what we have...but for what we are.....INFIDELS.....this is a holy war whether people want to admit it or not....it is....and if we fail....it's going to haunt us for yrs.....God Bless America...

"opposition" Is that the PC word for traitor? I know JB doesn't like name calling, but a rose is a rose by any other name.

Re: Why Not!!

Calling bush and his admin divisive is an unbelievable stmt.

He has for the past 8 years been absolutely blistered by the media, in incredibly unfair ways. Every democrat speaks so negatively of rush. There is two things to say about that.. 1) There are 1000x of liberal Rush's running the news organizations distributing propaganda purporting it to be news. I don't think anybody can seriously refute that. 2) Rush is an entertainer. His is not a news program. Think Keith Olberman, Chris Matthews, Bill Maher,............. Oh those happens to be liberals.. much more caustic ones at that.

You think Bush is divisive?? Think John Kerry, Al Gore, jimmy Carter, and the list goes on. These folks have been totally out of bounds and have been tearing our country apart for the inside.
