They sure don't look like much. A feller with halfway decent access to a machine shop could pump one out in less than an hour....Looks like to me,anyway.
And they don't make them for 20HP mercs.
I don't get it.Why are they 150buks?

They aren't 150 bux, 12Footer! They are 100 bux. And besides, they are Stainless cotton pickin' Steel!

If one uses his/her vessel in rocky waters and is less careful than is prudent it is a C-note well spent.

Well, my opinion, anyway.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

Try the $53 4 cyl. distributor cap for volvo. Now thats a rip off. Overtons has Guards for $99. Try fixing a skeg for that! :)

They have them for 20HP mercs Mike? I'll go check it out, and thanx.
This is for the boat described in "What have I gotten Myself into" post.
Evin, I can relate to the inline wires. Like try getting the rotor for the inline6 merc..."Umm, you might wanna repower".

Do you loose power if you fit a skeg guard ?

No, Philby. You can gain some maneuverability (whew what a werd!)...
They mainly protect the lower unit's skeg and prop from impact damage. But they can be used to replace a broken skeg if there is enough of a piece of one to bolt on to.
