Hi all. I have a 6M Mercury Mariner. There is a white sludge leaking down the leg from two small holes near the upper portion of the leg, which also has some what appears to be exhaust. Tried up loading a photo but couldn't get it to work. Thanks for any help.

Don't worry about it. The upper holes just below the powerhead part of the engine are exhaust relief ports used when the main exhaust is submerged (when the boat is at rest or in a no wake condition) to relieve back pressure so the engine can function normally. You are seeing oil and water condensation essentially. Normal and usually worse in the winter when it's cold.

Thanks for the response Texasmark. Is there any point at which this would be excessive? Thanks again

Excessive would be if running with much less than 50:1 fuel/oil ratio, that's if being a 2 stroke engine.

Really depends on the weather and how you use your boat. Cold weather and lots of idling can enhance it where hot and lots of WOT would tend to mitgate it.
