I keep getting white powder residue on the bottom cylinder of my 15hp 2cyl Evinrude. When i replace runs well. Reading the past reports on this causes me to be extremely scared- water in cylinder- to not worry about- replace spark wires.

I use extensively in saltwater, but i take the cowling off each time and gently mist the inside. So I am not sure what this is.

Should I have this engine overhauled? or not?

Any suggestions?

salt from water chanels around cylinders, some water gets to cylinder, or take out termostat and i'm sure tere is a lot of salt.
the best idea is to pul of the head(unscreav 6 bolts) clean water chanels around cylinders and put new head gasket and new termostat
soon water stops to flow, termostat will die.runing engin in this condytion means overheating and destroy motor

Won't the plugs turn a light color like that if it's running lean also?

I should clarify, plug is white only on the outside, went to the local shop today he examined the plug and found no evidence of water in the cylinder.

The last shop I went to put in the wrong plugs, got the right plugs and will test tonight.

Thanks for the comebacks.
