the trim rod is in third hole from bottom,it has a very slow hole shot, the rod seems to have washers on both ends, how do you remove them, and is it ok to move rod down to last hole,it might be sitting on trim cylinders..1991 115 evenrude

Re: whitch hole

A picture of the rod and washers might help.

The slow hole shot could be due to many things.

How is the top end, is the boat stable, does it porpoise. How quick does it plane.

Moving the rod inward would help it plane quicker, the top end might be a little slower.

Different props will change the hole shot but will reduce the top end.

Not an expert, hopefully others will chime in.

Do you have Tilt and Trim??? If so place the tilt rod in the lowest setting and adjust T&T as needed after plane. Normally trim rods are easily removed and moved w/o tools........ is you rod the proper one or has it been replaced??

It should look like this (and no washers) mQcBrkfawM_z6jyrZ6b5dyA.jpg

Re: whitch hole

Yes it has t&t and it takes to long to get on plane,I noticed the rod was not in the lowest hole,I put on my glasses and figured out how to remove the washer on one end,it is a split washer you have to seperate and expand to get off,I moved the rod down to the lowest hole,I will go try it when I get time..Just had carbs cleaned too, maybe that will help..if not I might have to put a fin or maybe a 4 blade prop.thanks for your help!!

Re: whitch hole

Forget the fin or the prop change ......... let's do the "no cost" moves first.

Pin in lowest hole.......
Trim motor all the way down.......
Try to take off and plane.......
Once on plane gradually trim up for more speed and find the sweet spot then gradually throttle back for best MPG

:)
