whisperdrive does not shut off

hello, when my thruster rc45 trolling motor is plugged in, it runs all the time. im thinking its made buy mercury mariner in 90. So I did some checking and when all the controls are undone see pictured, it still runs. Then when i unplugged the green or white wire from power module from the foot plate it would shut off. when the unit is plugged in there's 12 volts to the green and white wires. any help would be great ive had this boat since 98 and it sits more than it gets but hopping to change that. thanks

Sounds like a stuck relay.

i have worked with relays before but i dont know what to look for. can you tell me the location.

the reversing relay is in your picture.

yea well that looks like the power module part no. 813869a3. now would the relay be inside and can be replace, would save a couple dollars.

that looks to be a sealed unit. If you can get it apart and replace part of it, more issues won’t be far behind. May as well just get the module.

i have taken it apart and revealed the relay. whether the controls are plugged in and shut off or when the controls are unplugged from foot pedal, the tab comes down makes contact and motor is running. when i unplug the green or white wire that goes to the foot pedal the tab will go back up and motor will stop running. Is that the way its suppose to work or is there something wrong with the foot pedal. what appears to be two ground wires and the green and white wire are going in a sealed foot pedal with wires coming out to the controls. If wires had shorted in the pedal would the motor run all the time. thanks for looking and replies.
