which spark plugs do you use? 4.3GXi-G

ok, so does anyone know why finding replacement spark plugs for a 2007 volvo penta 4.3 GXi-G is hard? It is sad when a guy spends way more time trying to determine which plugs to use than the time it takes to actually replace them. any guidance would be appreciated.

Is it ok to use NGK, AC delco or are volvo parts necessary? I currently have NGK laser platinum 6579 (PTR5F-11) plugs on my bench that seem to have the incorrect gap (.044). These plugs where referenced from volvo's part numbers: 3858997 (gap .060). Which ones would you use? thanks.

Ayuh,.... Napa should be able to sell ya NGKs, or AC Delcos, as per the Volvo plug Numbers...

I would use AC (what came in the engine) or NGK, NEVER champion. They (Volvo) only sells Champions. and that is the worst thing you could do for your engine.

Don, you have mentioned to never use Champions in several threads now. What is the reason?

They just don't seem to work very well, that's the problem with Champions. Stick to AC or NGK and you won't have problems, simple as that.

thank you guys. I will go with the NGK plugs this year and switch out to AC Delco for next season. For anyone else looking, napa cross references the volvo part #3858997 to the NGK #6579 which is the laser platinum plug. such a great resource here guys, good stuff.
