I applied to the state of Indiana BMV and obtained a Motor Vehicle ID No. for my home built trailer. Stamped a tag for it, but am not sure where to put it: "MVINs affixed to trailers must be fastened to the left front side of the trailer tongue and be in plain view."
Checked my other boat and on that trailer the no. is stamped on top the tongue towards the starboard side, from your perspective sitting in the boat. My utility trailer even though it's licensed and titled has no visible no. on it at all!
So if some of you could take a quick look at your trailers and tell me where the ID is stamped or attached I'd really appreciate it. The BMV has been such a PITA about this all I don't want to give them an excuse to fail the final inspection.
To cut to the chase, which side of a trailer tongue is considered the left side?
