Which Side Left???

I applied to the state of Indiana BMV and obtained a Motor Vehicle ID No. for my home built trailer. Stamped a tag for it, but am not sure where to put it: "MVINs affixed to trailers must be fastened to the left front side of the trailer tongue and be in plain view."

Checked my other boat and on that trailer the no. is stamped on top the tongue towards the starboard side, from your perspective sitting in the boat. My utility trailer even though it's licensed and titled has no visible no. on it at all!

So if some of you could take a quick look at your trailers and tell me where the ID is stamped or attached I'd really appreciate it. The BMV has been such a PITA about this all I don't want to give them an excuse to fail the final inspection.

To cut to the chase, which side of a trailer tongue is considered the left side?

Top, bottom, left, and right.
They can’t fail it then.

I get your "drift" Roscoe, but really would rather not make 3 more tags!

While somone might *****, no one is going to take your trailer away from you for having the ID in the wrong spot...having owned numerous trailers over the years many have been marked in various places, though most have been on the left side ( drivers side), but not always in clear view!!!

Well the cop was impressed with it and called it good. I thought it was sort of half-ass, but he asked if the BMV sent it to me! So all is good. Took a month and 6 forms, but just one trip to the license branch away from getting it titled and registered.
