Are you sure you're not carrying around some excess water in the bilge, below flooring, etc?

Maybe things are priced differently in different areas. The 85 sounds like a good deal to me. I payed the same amount for basically the same thing last fall and couldnt be happier.

One last thing...once you have tilt and trim, you will NEVER want to go back to yanking motors up and down by hand.

in reality a lot of busy mechanics will not make there hands dirty on a 1977 v4.<br />i have seen plenty of mechanics who refuse to spend there time wrenching on outboards over 10 years old.<br />simply because it will get to expensive.<br />that is reality.<br /><br />reeldutch

Thats true. Most of us who still have those older motors around have had to learn from the book and from this forum how to work on our own stuff.

I agree with the others, a healthy 75hp should plane easily and push a 15 foot boat right along. I have a 17 foot that used to have a Suzuki 85hp that hit 40mph with 1 person and would easily pull up a skier. It could be that your old motor has always been overpropped. If you're near St. Pete I'll make you a deal on the Suzuki.
