I have a 9.8 2013 Tohatsu outboard which is the best prop for getting out of the hole. When it's winding I need to get up on the waves as quick as possible??
Dear Sir, Although I am not acquainted with the mathematics of boat and propeller ratios. I do know you need to factor the weight and length of the boat into the equation. In general terms if you want more low end torque you go for the larger diameter and low pitch propellers. The problem with this is you will lose top end speed. I think with such a small engine you will not need to change the propeller. It is only 9.8 hp; so the relatively small adjustments you can make with a propeller change are unlikely to make much difference. Regards Rob
You need to tach that engine and check max wot rpm achieved with you alone, then a probable prop maximization will put you there. How abot leaning your weight forward and going full grip to plane faster and forget all about a 9.8 re prop...
