Going to pull the trigger on a tower bimini. What color do you think will look best? The reds do not match. Logo red is really bright and jocket red is a shade darker. I am leaning towards the grey or black.

Can't modify the poll. But what about this tan?

Sand/camel tan or grey to match the stripes on the side. Tan or black binding on the top to match the black outline of the graphics.

Is it any hotter under dark-colored biminis than under light-colored ones?

I would assume darker colors will absorb more heat. Lighter colors will reflect

That was my thinking when I ordered my bimini in white. But since I haven't installed it yet, I don't know if my thinking was correct.

If the colors listed are the extent of your choices go with 'Linen'. 2nd pick would be 'toast'. Yes lighter colors transmit less heat. And bleve it or not birds are less likely to roost and/or take a dump on a light colored top.

IMO the safe choice would be "natural" (white).

Not to split hairs, but I am an upholsterer and white is not neutral. Neutral is a pale tan to dirty white where white is a bright white. I only mention this as the OP may go that way and order neutral when he truly wanted white.

P.S. I have a black bimini on my boat. I originally had tan and I don't notice any difference under it. I think it has more to do with the air blowing thru underneath. If you were closed up in a black top, I have no doubt that it would be hotter. Open and/or moving, I don't think there would be a noticable difference.

That tan would look very nice with that boat.

Re: Which color bimini

Keep in mind the color that is displayed on your computer doesn't do justice when selecting color. Can you get a swatch from the vendor? I think the Logo red would be a close match. My boat has forrest green accents and I bought an aftermarket green bimini and it is close enough in color though not a perfect match, don't think anyone really notices.

Another suggest is you might be able to get a factory OEM bimini for your boat. Sometimes you can find them cheaper than an after market one.

BTW, I got my Sunbrella Bimini from iboats

Re: Which color bimini

My experience is that lighter Biminis are harder on the eyes and actually feel hotter as the shade is not as dark . . . Not a choice, but there is a reason that most canvas is dark blue . . . it doesn't fade ;)

Edit: I looked at the pic, and I can see that blue wouldn't go. Red fades the worst, so I think I'm voting for black . . .

I think the tan would pull out the accent striping on the hull nicely.

Heh heh. Sorry OP!

Color preference aside there's a reason 'Pacific Blue' is used so often. It is the longest lasting Sunbrella color on the planet. I've repaired/restitched Pac Blue tops that were 20yrs old & the canvas was still good.

As was mentioned with an unenclosed bimini top it really don't matter what color it is concerning heat transfer.

Black is a good long lasting color but is the #1 color of choice for pooping birds. Theory being the black material pulls heat away from their white underbelly. They get comfortable, and then the next thing ya know ... plop.

Red fades big time. "Natural" gets dirty if'n you look at it the wrong way. Cadet grey is okay but doesn't match yer color scheme. I'd go with the 'Linen'

any color but black. black only looks good when new after that its brown or discolored. as well as heat a black shirt in the sun gets hotter then a red blue or tan shirt.
