P.S. when i bought the boat it didn't have a separator

I,m not an expert and I'm sure a couple will chime in shortly. Having said that, I put mine, on my old Bayliner, on the stringer close to the fuel pump. I would think you would want to put it in a place that was easy to access. I don't have a very good picture, but its at the end of the arrows.

it doesn't matter where i mount it, the tank at the bow is very easy to get to and plenty of room to have one mounted. my style of boat the dog house is also the rear seats so when you take it off the whole back of the boat is the dog house (except hull of coarse) so i have plenty room there also. i think the question i'm looking for is the perfromance of the separator for it best separating near the tank in the bow or near the fuel pump under the dog house. i should mention the boat is 19.5 ft i did a rough measurement on the fuel line it has to travel 14-16ft from tank to pump

As long as it is before the pump, I don't know that it matters if you put it near the engine or up in the bow.

Ayuh,... I completely agree,...
Generally they're found somewhere 'round the motor, as that's where all the greasy, gassy Stuff is....

Makes servicin' easier....

Actually, makin' it Easily Serviceable probably oughta be priority #1....

i guess when you put it that way there is no reason to put it in the bow as i don't have a reason to be under where the tank is anyway most of the servicing is in the stern anyways i think i just got the hint!
thanks

Put the filter where you have room and as easy an access as you can get. As long as the filter is between the tank and the fuel pump you have done what you intended, filter the fuel before the pump.

Just my $0.02 worth.

One thing to remember, is to be able to get an oil filter wrench under it! If you pick the stringer, you may not be able too! Transom is fine.

like i said before if i decided to put the separator at the bow there is plenty of room even for a oil wrench but like Bond-o said put it where all the mess will be when i do my yearly service so the mess will be all in one spot. so i will be putting the separator at the stern i have tons of room there also. thanks Pete104 it's true to what your saying not to repeat myself i was lucky enough the boat has lots of room
