Where to get new starter

Need New Starter for a Mercruiser model 470, 170 HP, 224 Cubic Inches - 4 cylinder, year 1979- serial number 5416868.

Any idea where to get/order from need asap - would also like carb rebuild kit

I picked up a nice little permanent magnate gear reduction starter for my 470 from my local auto electric place. Much smaller and easier to install than the OEM. Part # 2-2591-DR-2, or do a Google search on that number. Call around, bet you can find one locally. Yes that IS a MARINE starter. Carb kit right here iboats.com, parts & accessories.

Have it rebuilt allot cheaper and works just as good wothout the high price.

I would ordinarily agree, except this PMGR starter is about 2/3 the size of the original, and if you have ever tried to wrestle the OEM starter past the heat exchanger on a 470 you would be more than willing to pay the extra bucks.
